Special Initiatives Helping Farmers

Devastating damage to the agricultural sector, including the loss of laborers, has left the farming community in peril. Leket has mobilized over 50,000 volunteers since October 2023 to assist farmers urgently requiring manpower to maintain their operations. Additionally, in partnership with KIEDF, Leket continues to support vulnerable farmers through a low-interest loan program and a $4 million grant fund established in collaboration with Strauss. Leket’s support provides immediate support for agricultural activity while assisting border farmers with long-term rehabilitation. With 35% of farms in the Gaza envelope now permanently closed, keeping Israeli farmers solvent and productive during these challenging times is an organizational priority, particularly as unrest rises in the north following ten months of rocket bombardments from Hezbollah, drastically affecting northern fruit production.
